Physician Career Advancement: Mastering Soft Skills

Self-Study

While strong clinical skills often lead to interviews and job offers for physicians, they aren’t the only factor predicting long term-career success. Employers are beginning to recognize the importance of certain transferable and non-technical soft skills and are looking for those traits more often in their future employees. These “soft” skills are the skills professionals should learn, regardless of the profession they choose.

This course will assist physician leaders in recognizing which transferable career soft skills may help increase their competitive advantage, ensure future marketability, support interdisciplinary collaboration, and ultimately promote a smoother transition from one role to the next.

The American Association for Physician Leadership has helped physicians develop their leadership skills through education, career development, thought leadership and community building.

The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) changed its name from the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) in 2014. We may have changed our name, but we are the same organization that has been serving physician leaders since 1975.
