With a focus on professional development and life-long learning, the Cleveland Clinic and the American Association for Physician Leadership are coming together to advance personal and organizational transformation through education, exposure and experience for physician leaders.
The alliance involves coordination of joint educational programming and the offering of exclusive, reciprocal rates for members and participants of both organizations. Cleveland Clinic and AAPL will also provide content to benefit physicians and physician leaders not currently engaged with either organization.

“This collaboration with Cleveland Clinic is an effort to expand reach and support of physicians as leaders in change,” said Peter Angood, MD, FRCS(C), FACS, MCCM, the CEO and president of the American Association for Physician Leadership. “We are aligning to propel physicians back into the forefront of sustainable changes in health care that puts patients first.”
Through a series of webinars, articles, discussions and paths to leadership certification, the organizations hope to cast a wider net to support physicians who would like to manage their careers and step up to lead.
“We are taking proactive steps in closing the gap between physicians and the administrative, managerial, solutions-driven, strategic and change management skills needed to navigate our increasingly complex health systems,” Angood said.
