April 15, 2024

Summary:

The 2024 AAPL Leadership Conference in Nashville wrapped up with a keynote address on AAPL’s Future Direction & ROI of Physician Leadership as well as a Career Workshop.

“I'm gonna be somebody

One of these days

I'm gonna break these chains I'm gonna be somebody someday

You can bet your hard-earned dollar I will”

Be Somebody by Travis Tritt, lyrics by Jill Colucci / Stewart Harris

As the 2024 AAPL Leadership Conference in Nashville wrapped up, it was time for attendees to take home the skills they learned and start to think about how to use them to “be somebody,” when they returned home – to be a true leader.

The keynote address that focused on AAPL’s Future Direction & ROI of Physician Leadership was given by AAPL president and CEO Peter Angood, MD, FRCS(C), FACS, MCCM, FAAPL(Hon), along with Zulma Berrios, MD, MBA, CPE, FAAPL, chief medical officer, West Kendall Baptist Hospital, Baptist Health South Florida; Claude Brunson, MD, CPE, MS, FASA, executive director, Mississippi State Medical Association, Mississippi State Medical Association (MSMA); and Colleen Inouye, MD, MS-PopH, MMM, FACOG, CPE, FAAPL, treasurer and Maui director of the Hawaii Independent Physicians’ Association.

And there was a final spate of informative sessions:

For over 45 years.

The American Association for Physician Leadership has helped physicians develop their leadership skills through education, career development, thought leadership and community building.

The American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL) changed its name from the American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) in 2014. We may have changed our name, but we are the same organization that has been serving physician leaders since 1975.
